WHILE most property developers within the Johor Baru district are having problems selling high-rise apartments, it is not the case for Alfa Lagenda Sdn Bhd.
Its project, Larkin Indah Apartments in Jalan Datin Halimah, which was launched in April, had received good response from buyers, said managing director Andy Tham Cheng Lock.
''We have sold 100 shop-offices and 66 apartments for RM13mil and RM12mil respectively,'' he said during a media visit to the site on Friday.
He said the company was targeting RM200mil in sales on the completion of the project in five years.
Tham said the company was initially quite worried that it would not be able to attract buyers.
He noted that the response from bumiputra buyers was good and all units allocated to them in phases one and two had been taken up.
Buyers have a choice of a three-room or four-room apartment, both with built-up areas of 1,008 sq ft and priced from RM106,250 to RM148,750.
The project on a 7.51ha site consists of six apartment blocks with 1,484 units and would take five to seven year to complete.
''We believe that the project’s strategic location and competitive pricing are the two main contributing factors,'' he added.
Tham said Larkin was a mature housing area with more than 10 schemes with a good mix of flats, condominiums, landed houses and government living quarters.
He said Larkin was also easily accessible through Jalan Datin Halimah, which leads to and away from the city, Tampoi and Kuala Lumpur by the North-South Highway.
