A CONVENTION aimed at sharing and imparting experiences and innovative concepts to empower Malaysian real estate agents to embrace future challenges will be held at the Nikko Hotel in Kuala Lumpur on March 5-6.
About 460 people had confirmed participation in the Asean Real Estate Practices: Confronting The Future convention, organised by the Malaysian Institute of Estate Agents (MIEA) and United Overseas Bank (Malaysia) Bhd (UOB Malaysia).
Among the speakers are Datuk Mani Usilappan, the Valuation and Property Services Department deputy director-general; East Meets West International principal Takashi Misawa; Real Estate Broker Association of Thailand president Dr Samsak Muneepeerakul and Institute of Estate Agents, Singapore, president, Jeffthery Foo.
Expert speakers are also expected from around the region, including Singapore, the Philippines, Australia and the United States.
''With the Asean Free Trade Area and General Agreement on Tariffs, Trade and Services around the corner, many are expecting significant impact to existing real estate practices,'' MIEA president Khatijah Abdullah said.
Khatijah said the target participants were real estate agents, negotiators, valuers, property developers, property managers, property owners, investors and fund managers.
